For the last few years, it seems like every woman under the sun is obsessed with Bare Minerals makeup products.
Any why wouldn’t they be? Bare Minerals promises to make your skin look natural and flawless—plus it’s supposedly good for your skin.
Like many ladies out there, blogger Reese Kistel, has always adored all of Bare Essentials’ incredible (albeit expensive) makeup, especially the Mineral Veil.
That translucent powder really does work wonders on controlling shine and it perfectly sets your foundation, but there’s a catch.
Reese was just mindlessly looking at the ingredients on the back of her Mineral Veil one day, when she finally discovered what she had really been putting on her face: iron oxides and cornstarch with parabens!
$22 for a jar of who-knows-what? No thanks!
That’s when Reese decided to make her own Mineral Veil, without all those unnecessary additives and chemicals.
Not only does Reese’s DIY Mineral Veil work just as good (if not better!) than the Bare Minerals version, it’s also about $20 cheaper.
Here’s everything you’ll need to get started:
- Cornstarch
- Baby Powder
- Cocoa Powder or Powder Foundation (if you want a slightly darker shade)
- 1 Empty Powder Container
Inside your old powder container, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with about ½ teaspoon of baby powder. If you do want a little extra color in your powder, lightly sprinkle in a smidge of cocoa powder or powder foundation.
Voilà! You have your very own makeup powder in barely one minute!
