The man was confused when they called him in and started to prep him for surgery. But when he tried to ask about it, they just told him to do what they told him.

An expectant father in China ended up on the operation table after he was mistaken for a patient while waiting for the birth of his child at the hospital.

According to the People’s Daily, the man, identified only as Mr. Wang, was waiting for the birth of his child when hospital workers took him in for hemorrhoid surgery.

The soon-to-be father had reportedly been mistaken for another man, who had already signed all the paperwork for the quick operation.

When doctors at Shenyang Hunnan Xinqu Hospital asked Wang to follow them into another room, he assumed they were taking him to see his wife before she gave birth.

Once in the room, Wang was reportedly told to take off his pants, which left him completely confused.

“It felt strange, and I asked why,” he told the People’s Daily. “They said: ‘Just do what we tell you.’”

As it turns out, the 29-year-old did actually have hemorrhoids, so doctors went through with the surgery long before they realized they had the wrong patient.

“I really never knew I had hemorrhoids,” Wang said.

At the end of the day, Wang was mostly upset that he missed the birth of his child, who he could hear crying in the room next door.

“When I was on the operating table I heard a baby crying and I was very happy, and I wanted to hold it,” he said. “But I couldn't move because I started to feel pain.”

Still, Wang was just glad that his baby, who arrived via C-section, was happy and healthy at birth.

The hospital has offered the man who originally signed up for the hemorrhoid surgery about $780 to make up for the inconvenience.
