Social media posts have become the go-to way for couples to showcase their love for one another. Celebrity couples and everyday partners alike dedicate entire days to their partner on Instagram, i.e. “Woman Crush Wednesday” and “Man Crush Monday”. We all like to use this outlets to express ourselves, so it makes sense that those who are blissfully in love take the opportunity to share their hearts on social media as well.
Writer and activist Robbie Tripp may have officially won the award for best relationship post. His body-positive Instagram letter to his wife, lifestyle blogger Sarah Tripp has gone viral for it’s empowering, loving, and truthful message.
“ I love this woman and her curvy body.” his post begins. He admits in the post that he was often teased for being attracted to girls who were “shorter and curvier”.
“As I became a man and started to educate myself on issues such as feminism and how the media marginalizes women by portraying a very narrow and very specific standard of beauty (thin, tall, lean) I realized how many men have bought into that lie.” he continues.
“For me, there is nothing sexier than this woman right here: thick thighs, big booty, cute little side roll, etc. Her shape and size won't be the one featured on the cover of Cosmopolitan but it's the one featured in my life and in my heart.”
Robbie goes on to praise his wife’s confidence, and how beautiful and sexy he thinks she is every single day. He encourages men to not buy into society’s ideas of what a perfect body needs to be.
“A real woman is not a porn star or a bikini mannequin or a movie character. She's real. She has beautiful stretch marks on her hips and cute little dimples on her booty.” he says to the male readers.
He also has a message for the women as well: “Girls, don't ever fool yourself by thinking you have to fit a certain mold to be loved and appreciated. There is a guy out there who is going to celebrate you for exactly who you are, someone who will love you like I love my Sarah.”
As soon as Robbie posted these incredible words, the Instagram world began to applaud. His photo and tribute gained over 15,000 likes, and nearly every single comment was complete with words of praise, as well as gratitude for reminding everyone what true love is about.
“Thank you! I am a curvy woman and my hubby feels much the same as you. He looked past the packaging and found the real gift.” one Instagram user wrote.
“Saw an article about this online and I just had to find your IG. That is such a touching letter to your wife and it resonates to all girls like her, like me. Made me believe there is hope out there. Thank you for guys like you. You and your wife are blessed to have each other.” wrote another.
