Bob Harper, a famous personal trainer on The Biggest Loser, has suffered a massive heart attack and is now in recovery.
While speaking with TMZ, the 51-year-old celebrity trainer revealed that he was working out at a gym in New York City, when he suddenly collapsed.
According to a report from TMZ that was released on Monday, Harper suffered the massive heart attack about two weeks ago.
Harper told the outlet that heart problems run in his family, and in fact, his own mother died after suffering a heart attack.
According to TMZ, Harper was actually just doing his usual workout regime at the gym when he collapsed inside the facility.
Fortunately for the trainer, there was a doctor in the building who managed to rush to his side just in time to administer CPR and save Harper’s life.
The quick-thinking doctor reportedly had to use two paddles to keep Harper’s heart going before the trainer could be taken to a hospital.
Harper told TMZ that the heart attack knocked him unconscious for two straight days, and when he finally woke up, he had absolutely no idea what was going on or why he was in the hospital.
Because of the severity of the heart attack, Harper had to stay in the hospital for eight days, and he says he is still in New York City right now.
He lives in Los Angeles and it is unclear exactly when he is expected to return home.
However, according to The Daily Mail, Harper is already doing much better just two weeks after suffering the life-threatening heart attack.
At this time, Harper is absolutely not cleared to return to his usual fitness regime, but he is up and walking about whenever he can.
As The Daily Mail reports, Harper initially started his career as a celebrity trainer in the 1990s.
One of his first clients in 1999 was Jennifer Jason Leigh, but Harper soon went on to land a starring role on The Biggest Loser in 2004.
Harper was involved in a whirlwind of controversy in 2014, after one of the contestants on the show lost an unhealthy amount of weight.
Winner Rachel Frederickson started The Biggest Loser at 260 pounds and left weighing just 105 pounds.
“They're in charge of themselves. So, I had not seen her until that night, and so when she walked out, I was just kind of like, whoa. And I’ve been on the show since the beginning, forever,” Harper later said on the Rachel Ray show.
