In 2014, when Tess Shaw was just 17 years old, she went up to her mom and said that they should both get their weight in check. Both Tess and her mom, Cheryl, who was nearing 50, were overweight at the time.
The mother-daughter duo agreed to sign up for a 100-day fitness program to see how much they could do within that short period of time.
Every day, for the next 100 days, they recorded a brief, 10-second video about their nutrition or fitness habit for the day to hold themselves, and each other, accountable.
By the end of the 100 days, the women lost a total of 74 pounds – but they didn’t plan on stopping yet. They’ve been working out together ever since they started and now, at the beginning of 2017, they look even better than they ever have in their lives.
Cheryl admits that she’s had a few setbacks since she injured her knee a little while back, but she knows that she’s lost at least 50 pounds since 2014.
Tess, now 19, weighs in at about 125 pounds, totaling a weight loss of about 60 pounds.
But even though they’ve come so far, both women agree that they’re not quite “done” with their fitness journey yet and want to continue working toward an ever-healthier, happier lifestyle.
Their advice for people who are trying to embark on their own fitness journeys? “Just get out there,” said Tessa. “Don’t get nervous when you go into the gym,” Tess said.
