URGENT: There Are 19 Ingredients In McDonald's French Fries

Should any French fries have the number of ingredients in them that McDonald's has? No, probably not. Find out what's in them, and their reasoning for why.

If you order French fries, what do you expect to be in them?

That probably comes off as a weird question, right? All that should be “in” a French fry is potatoes and oil. Right?

Of course, it’s never that simple if it’s McDonald’s.

McDonald’s has come a long way from what it once was: that is, a towering giant selling cheap, horrifyingly processed fast food to an increasingly obese American public.

But of course, documentaries and further documentaries made the chain clean up its act a little—that is, just enough to get people off their backs.

A new investigation found that there are a whopping 19 ingredients in McDonald’s French fries. What?

Grant Imahara, who you may know from Mythbusters, headed this investigation, which found that McDonald’s fries includes ingredients such as polydimethylsiloxane, a type of silicone used in silly putty that keeps cooking oil from foaming, and butylhydroquinone, a petrol-based ingredient, which is used as a food preservative.

Imahara assures viewers that while these ingredients have scary names, they’re being used for safe reasons. But just because they’re safe doesn’t mean we want them in there.

But maybe it’s best to watch the video and decide for yourself. Just remember: just because McDonald’s says it’s safe doesn’t mean it’s actually good for you. There’s no reason to be satisfied with highly processed foods.
