Is Diet Soda Really Better For You Than Regular Soda? The Answer Is Not What I Expected!

Are you a regular or diet soda drinker? Which one do you think is healthier? Find out if you're right!

There are arguments on both sides. Is regular soda bad for you because it’s full of sugar, or are diet soda’s artificial sweeteners even worse?

It’s time to settle this argument.

All of the old evidence that pointed at a connection between artificial sweeteners and cancer is just that: old. Most of the connections between aspartame and cancer are unfounded or were disproven long ago.

So if there’s a choice between regular soda and diet soda, of course you should choose the diet option. There’s no argument for consuming so much more sugar, especially when there’s so little evidence that diet soda is really that much worse.

A can of Pepsi has 41 grams of added sugar. A bottle of Coke is 240 calories of just sugar. So if you must reach for that carbonated sweet stuff, go for the option that’s at least a little better for you.

Now this isn’t to say that diet soda is good for you. On the contrary, even though artificial sweeteners don’t cause cancer, they still have a lot of the same risks as sugar. Artificial sweeteners have been linked to heart disease, obesity, and diabetes. The empty sweetness of it can trick your brain into feeling hungrier, meaning you’ll eat more. ##MN_RESP##

That’s right, it’s not even really helping you solve your sugar craving. In fact, eating lots of artificial sweeteners over time can actually stimulate your appetite.

So any way you slice it, drinking soda will more than likely make you gain weight.

The ultimate winner in the battle between regular and diet soda?

Water. Just drink water.

Have you broken your soda addiction yet? How did you do it?
