Every woman wants to know the secret to staying slim and living longer in America. But, for many people, that might mean eating like you live somewhere else.
It’s no secret that Americans struggle with their weight more than any other country in the world, which is why we’re all so obsessed with finding the secret to a long, healthy life in other cultures.
We all know that French women stay slim through eating small portions and walking wherever we can, but how to Japanese women do it?
Despite being packed with unhealthy fast-food restaurants, Japan has one of the lowest obesity rates in the entire world.
It would be easy to say their secret is genetics, but that’s simply not true. Japanese women, especially, are thin because of the way they eat.
A typical Japanese meal consists of as many colors as you can imagine. Since the portions are so small, women have the opportunity to try a little bit of everything to satisfy any craving perfectly.
It’s important to keep in mind that Japanese women consume far more seafood and tofu than red meat on any given day.
Aside from eating mostly small portions and lean protein, Japanese women eat vegetables at just about every single meal.
Green beans, shitake mushrooms, spinach, seaweed, carrots, turnips—you name it. Japanese families try to incorporate as many colorful veggies as they can into their meals.
Another great thing about the Japanese diet is that most of their cooking methods generally rely on water, not oil.
When it comes to eating fried foods, like tempura, Japanese women tend to take just a few pieces before moving on to other delicious foods.
One important aspect of the Japanese culture to remember is that they are very family-oriented, meaning most families tend to eat every meal together.
What does this have to do with staying slim? No mindless eating!
