It’s fair to say that the news these days is rarely full of positive and uplifting headlines. Now more than ever, we need stories of kindness, no matter how simple they may be.
Parenting is a real struggle, especially if both parents have to work, or if the child is raised by a single parent. This usually calls for a lot of help from either babysitters, daycares, or older siblings.
Candice Curry was in desperate need of some help when she called her teenage daughter Stiles. Due to a family emergency, she needed her 17-year-old daughter to pick up her 3-year-old son and take him home. This would cause Stiles to miss a class at school, but Candice had no one else to turn to. Stiles agreed to help out, but Candice was shocked when she saw something on her daughter’s Snapchat a little bit later.
“We had a family emergency type situation today that required our teenager to leave school early and pick up her little brother from his school. I thought she took him home until I saw her snapchat.” Candice wrote on her Facebook page.
Instead of taking her 3-year-old brother home, Stiles’ Snapchat revealed that she had actually taken her brother to class with her so she wouldn’t miss the lesson. In the adorable photo, Stiles’ baby brother is fast asleep in her lap while she attends class.
“Instead of missing class she actually took her three year old brother back to high school with her and let him sleep on her while she finished her last class of the day.” Candice continued.
Needless to say, her heart melted when she saw the photo. She couldn’t believe how much her daughter had done to help her, but that went through all the extra work not to miss class as well. Seeing her young child sleeping on her daughter’s lap made all the stress of the day fade away.
“I'm not sure on the legalities here or what kind of rules were broken but I also just don't care. My sweet teenager helped her family out and returned to her other responsibility while snuggling her baby brother.” she wrote.
“I'm either the worst mom in the world or totally nailing it. Please don't tell me which one , let me live in ignorant bliss while I stare at this picture. Life is short. These are the moments that make it so incredibly sweet.” she finished.
Candice wasn’t the only one who was touched by the photo. Her Facebook post garnered over 2,000 likes and more than 120 shares. Apparently everyone needed a little dose of sweetness in their lives, too.
