We’re all familiar with brides who just go way overboard and make things more stressful than they have to be when it comes to the big day. Maybe you had to deal with a “bridezilla” a time or two...maybe you were one! Either way, we can all admit that planning a wedding can be pretty hectic, especially when all eyes are on you. There are so many things to take into consideration: the seating chart, the food, the guest list, the dress! Not to mention creating a budget for the big day...it’s been said that the average wedding in America today costs around $26,000. Maybe that’s why this nameless bride did something so ridiculous for her day.
That’s right, one bride did something so over the top, so “bridezilla” crazy, the people on the internet can’t stop talking about how insane she is. The bride’s sister posted the ridiculous story on Reddit. Once you read this story, you can decide for yourself.
Using the name “SisterBridesmaid” this distraught 33-year-old woman took to Reddit to let everyone online know what was going on her little sister’s head as she prepped for the most important day of her life.
“My self-absorbed sister is holding an "auction" for all her potential bridesmaids to compete in for a place in her wedding” she wrote.
My (33F) self-absorbed sister (22F) is holding an "auction" for all her potential bridesmaids to compete in for a place in her wedding from relationships
You read that right. This bride-to-be is holding an auction for her friends to see who can win a spot in her bridal party.
“She still hasn’t chosen her bridesmaids. Instead, she has sent out dozens of…invitations, to various girls. It’s an invite to attend and participate in a ‘bidding auction’ on the six spots in her bridal party," the confused sister wrote. "Whichever six of all these chicks bid the most will be the bridesmaids. There’s also an auction for being her maid of honor."
Needless to say, people were shocked and a little confused. The sister admitted that while her sister can be a really sweet person, she’s “very spoiled”, as well as “high maintenance” and “immature”.
In the comment thread, it was also revealed that the bride-to-be’s fiance is quite rich, so a lack of funds for the special day was in fact, not the issue.
“I told my sister they weren't lacking for funds because it's obvious and she just said "well if they'll already be bidding we figure we should put their money towards a great event for everyone" as though this is an act of service she's doing for them. It's totally nonsensical.” the sister said.
The spoiled bridezilla got engaged a few months ago, and will be saying her “I do’s” in August. Many Reddit users are wondering if anyone will actually bid for a bridesmaid spot.
“In my opinion her sister is highly manipulative. The nutters are those willing to actually pay to be in her wedding party. Why would anyone do this? I can't wrap my brain around it.” one user wrote.
Can you believe this story? What do you think about the bride’s idea?
