A fitness blogger decided to share a couple of photographs and a lot of encouraging words about how she embraced the natural growth of her body and her followers should as well. Morgan Mikenas posted photos of her hairy legs and hairy armpits in order to promote natural beauty.
According to Mirror, Mikenas used to get bullied at school when she was only 11 or 12 years old for having hairy legs whenever she would wear gym shorts. Mikenas felt very humiliated and went straight home and cried her eyes out to her mom. Then, she asked her to teach her how to shave her legs.
Just last year, Mikenas had a change of heart and decided that she would accept the natural growth in her body and stop shaving her legs for good. She has been letting her hairs on her legs and armpits grow since the start of last year.
In a video that she posted on her YouTube channel titled “Why I Don’t Shave,” Mikenas said, “I guess my number one reason why I stopped was that it just took so much time. It took so much of my time to get in the shower and have to shave everything and then wash my hair and then wash my body it's just like another thing.
“I'm not trying to make all of humanity just stop shaving armpits and leg hair anymore. I just want to inspire others and what works for you, what makes you feel the most comfortable."
Mikenas, who also works with children and would occasionally take the out swimming every Friday, was surprised on how the kids reacted to the sight of her hairy legs. One of the kids told her, “Oh my god, you look like a man!"
Mikenas said, “What does that say if that's how these kids are being taught? I've even seen kids in third grade that shave their legs."
Mikenas wrote in an Instagram post flaunting her body hair: “Imagine if everyone just decided that today was the day they loved themselves and embraced every part of themselves. Accepting and loving your body and your "flaws" because you know they are what makes you who you are.
“If you are focused on being true to yourself in every moment, you are less concerned what others think, which will lead to peace of mind. When you have nothing to hide and you can freely be yourself, there is a profound peace/confidence you will emanate to the world that will inspire others.”
