When Sharon McLear gave birth to her son, DJ, nine years ago through a caesarian procedure, she started experiencing problems related to her bowel movement. McLear’s stomach had been immensely swelling because of a severe bowel condition. A lot of people had been asking her if she’s pregnant, according to The Sun.

McLear, who’s from Lanarkshire, had had enough of strangers coming over to her and asking her when’s the baby due. She had been suffering from stomach aches and consistently struggled to take a number two. Due to this, her stomach became rounder and bigger, even though doctors told her that she had nothing to worry about.

McLear said, “Sometimes, I was in too much pain to get out of bed. And my tummy grew and grew until I began to look like I was nine months pregnant all over again.”

No matter how many times she would explain to strangers that she’s not pregnant and it’s because of a serious condition, no one could understand her. McLear, who’s 37 years old, was finally sent to the hospital for endoscopy and scans.

McLear was told that a blockage in her bowel was causing the bloatedness, and feces had been building up inside her and making her swell. She said, “I was basically pregnant with a massive poo. It sounded so gross. I felt disgusted with my body.”

McLear used enemas and took laxatives in an effort to clear up the blockage and release her waste, but to no avail. Nothing worked completely. She said, “By now my tummy was so large I could only wear size-18 joggers and big, baggy tops. I was used to being a trim size 10 so I looked like a totally different person.”

Her family and friends had been making fun of her so-called “poo baby.” McLear’s confidence tanked so low that she pleaded to her consultant to operate her. However, her request was denied due to the fact the blockages were spread out and cannot be targeted in one location.

McLear said, “My weight’s gone up from 8st to 12st 7lbs and I’m carrying it all on my belly. I can never wear anything nice because nothing fits around my huge middle. I look so pregnant that just going to the shops results in at least one persona asking me when the baby’s due.”

Now, her son DJ has been blaming himself for what happened to her. And she felt guilty that he’d been missing out of mother and son bonding time due to her unwillingness to leave the house.

She said, “I’m just praying for some kind of cure so I can get my life back. I can only live in hope.”
