Katie Taylor is not giving any thought to the haters after she was criticized for making her 18-month-old daughter join beauty pageants, the Mirror reports.
Taylor’s daughter, Autumn, has already racked five beauty pageant titles.
After photos and news of baby Autumn started spreading throughout the Internet, Taylor has been getting hate comments from trolls.
Some are accusing her of turning her own baby into a “prostitute.”
Taylor said, “If she carries on doing this, it’ll help build her confidence up. She loves the attention, smiling, laughing and waving. It’s also an excuse for me to buy a frilly dress!”
She added, "Someone I know actually said to me that she could turn into a prostitute because of this. I was shocked more than anything. I don’t know how being in a pageant can turn you into a prostitute. She’s 19 months old, that’s not going to happen.”
Taylor assured everybody that Autumn quite enjoys beauty pageants. She probably thinks they’re all just playing around.
Taylor said, “I was more nervous than her, because she was only nine months and she didn’t have a clue.”
Taylor shared, “She smiles and waves and wobbles about on the stage. If she feels up to it she’ll dance, she’ll move around to the music and blows kisses.”
According to Taylor, Autumn was first introduced in the pageant scene when she was just nine years old. The first show she attended was in Preston, Lancashire.
She said, “I know some people don’t like the make-up and hairpieces, and I don’t either, but it’s each to their own. I’ll keep doing pageants until it’s clear she doesn’t like them, we’re not harming anyone.”
Taylor, who also has another child, go the idea behind Autumn joining pageants from a TV series about beauty last year.
Taylor explained, “I definitely treat her like a princess, she wears bonnets and dresses and hats. She never wears leggings, she wore jeans once, but I won’t have her in trousers.”
She continued, “Everyone always asks how can she move in the pageant dresses, but she’s fine, she’s just learnt to move in them. She gets lots of attention when we’re out and about because she looks so sweet. We always get people coming over and looking at her.”
According to Mirror.uk, Taylor works as a support for patients with mental health issues. She said that Autumn likes to play with typically boy toys at home with her brother, Cassius, who’s four years old.
Taylor shared, “She’s always dancing about, but she’s quite a tomboy. She plays with her toys and dolls, but she also loves her brother’s Marvel figures and dinosaurs.”
