Will Flint, 27 years old, witnessed a man dragging a woman by her hair and punched her in the eye. When Flint tried to intervene, the man pulled out his knife and started stabbing him all over his body, SWNS reports.
Flint, who’s a champion bodybuilder, will remain tarnished with scars after he tried to save a woman from getting physically abused by a man. The suspect, Aidan Morrissey, was arrested.
Morrissey, 18 years old, apparently attacked Flint on New Year’s Day. Flint was on a cash point on Bristol Road, Birmingham when he saw Morrissey and the woman.
Luckily for Flint, he was trained in martial arts and managed to dodge the first few lunges from the suspect. However, it came to the point where Flint couldn’t dodge anymore and suffered 12 knife wounds on his chest, stomach, and shoulder.
Morrissey was sentenced to eight years and ten months after he confessed that he attacked the victim with the intent of causing grievous harm. He was also charged with possession of a bladed article.
According to SWNS, Flint said, “I was at the ATM when I heard a commotion: a young woman was being yelled at. I spoke to the man but almost immediately he pulled a knife and began stabbing me.”
He continued, “I have had some martial arts training and managed to deflect some of the blows, without that I’m not sure I would still be alive. It was a traumatic time not only for myself but also my family; it will have a lasting physical and emotional impact and the scars will stay with me for life.”
Flint won a lot of national physique competitions. He was still recuperating from the injuries he sustained. He claimed that he may not be able to get back to a better physical shape again.
Flint said, “It’s unlikely I’ll be able to return to full fitness again because of this and just shows how knives can permanently affect someone’s life.”
Detective Constable Gareth Johnson of West Midlands Police said, “This was a particularly severe attack and one that highlights the dangers of carrying a knife as just one momentary lapse can have long-lasting consequences.”
Johnson continued, “Knife crime is unacceptable and we are committed to punishing those who ignore the risks and dangers of illegally carrying one. We were thankful to the information provided by the public following our appeal which helped to build up the case against Morrissey.”
