A Pennsylvania mother is facing serious charges after she allegedly forced her 4-year-old daughter to take opiates.

According to a criminal complaint, 27-year-old April Rose has been charged with recklessly endangering another person, endangering the welfare of a child and manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance.

York County Children and Youth Services reportedly contacted authorities after a little girl was taken to York Hospital.

The girl’s grandmother soon told police about the chilling conversation she heard between her daughter and her granddaughter in the family’s bathroom.

According to Fox 43, the grandmother told investigators that she was at home on Friday night, when she heard her daughter telling her granddaughter to “take this.”

Although the little girl replied, “no, it’s yucky,” Rose reportedly said: “I don’t care, take it anyway. It will help you sleep.”

Once Rose left the bathroom, her mother walked inside, where she allegedly noticed a white powdery substance near the sink.

Although Rose immediately told her mother that she gave the 4-year-old “nothing,” the grandmother quickly rushed her to the hospital.

According to court documents, during the drive to the hospital, Rose’s daughter said that, “mommy gave her something that tasted bad and hurt her stomach.”

The criminal complaint shows that the little girl’s urine tested positive for opiates.

Authorities say the girl has since been taken into protective custody.
