After feeling that something was slightly off with the way the bus was going, a student of Shelton Intermediate School in Connecticut, checked on the one who’s handling the driving wheel. A terribly traumatized student shared photos of her sleeping bus driver and shared them on Snapchat.

55-year-old Paul Pixley, school bus driver for Shelton Intermediate School, was charged with 30 counts of risk of injury to a minor and various other driving offenses. Pixley, who’s from Derby, was set on a $75,000 bail, according to NBC New York.

After receiving calls regarding a school bus that was swerving all over the road, Shelton Police Department responded and immediately went to the location of the scene.

When they pulled over the bus after they found it, they saw that the bus was fortunately empty. Further investigation confirmed that there were about 30 students in the bus while it was driving around.

There are no reports on how the students all got off the bus safely. It was rather claimed that they took the opportunity to get off at earlier stops before the driver fully falls to sleep.

Vienna DiPiave, mother of a student on board the bus, said, “[Siena] was like, ‘Mom, our bus is going to crash.’ She goes, ‘Our driver’s falling asleep.’”

DiPiave also shared an exchange she had with her daughter via text message. She then made everyone aware of the incident through a Facebook post in which she was urging every Shelton parent to get involved. Siena was picked up by her dad as soon as she got off the bus.

She claimed that she contacted Jim Burns’ office. Burns, who serves as the Transportation Manager for the Shelton Public School, placed DiPiave on hold and asked her to leave a message by a secretary.

She also claimed that Pixley already had a record of a previous accident even though he was only hired earlier this month.
