She Can't Figure Out Why She's Getting Breakouts. Then She Sees These Photos Online.

For years, Amanda Fama couldn’t figure out why she couldn’t get rid of the acne that was plaguing her skin. A series of horrifying photos helped her out.

Like most other people, when Amanda Fama was a teenager, she faced a lot of struggles with conquering her skin problems. Her breakouts were “horrific,” and she went to the dermatologist multiple times to get help.

But even then, she wasn’t able to pinpoint precisely what was plaguing her skin.

On her own, she changed her diet, took antibiotics, and even went on birth control in hopes of controlling her acne better.

None of her efforts seemed to make a significant change on her skin.

When Fama was just about ready to give up, she suddenly realized: She never cleaned her makeup brushes, but she used them on her face every day.

After having used her brushes for days, weeks, months, and maybe even years, she’d never once bothered to clean them as she was supposed to.

That’s when she finally decided to take all her makeup tools to the sink and washed them all with antibacterial soap. A gush of color – pink and beige – seeped out of the bristles and down the drain before Fama could even wrinkle her nose in disgust.

“It was really, really gross,” she said afterward.

Not too long afterward, Fama came across a collection of images someone had shared on Imgur online. The user had used a phone camera with a macro lens to take photos of used makeup brushes, and what you see on there is actually horrifying.

On each bristle, you can see tiny specimens and old makeup particles collecting after not having been washed for so long.

Take a look for yourself. Then go wash your makeup brushes.
