New Hampshire police officials say two moms were so drunk at a mall earlier this week that they were “barely able to stand” while caring for their babies.
According to police in Salem, both women were found drunkenly trying to care for their babies in a parking lot outside the Mall at Rockingham Park Monday evening.
Authorities say the women were “barely able to stand” by the time police arrived at the scene to find out what was going on.
As the Associated Press reports, one of the mothers was holding her baby dangerously high above her head while sitting in a disgusting puddle.
“Officers noticed that the females were barely able to stand, let alone care for the infants,” police said in a statement.
Once they spoke with the women, authorities learned that they were each the biological mothers of the two children, a 1-month-old and a 4-month-old.
Police quickly arrested 22-year-old Baylie Lecolst and 24-year-old Amber Giordano on child endangerment charges.
According to the Associated Press, although the mothers have since been released, they are expected to be arraigned in Circuit Court District Division in Salem on Halloween.
While the children were released into the custody of family members, investigators are currently working with the New Hampshire Department of Children, Youth, and Families to figure out what their next step with be.
