She Farts During A Laser Surgery And Causes A Fire At The Hospital

A patient in Tokyo let out some flatulence during her surgery and ended up causing a fire in the hospital. Here’s what we know so far.

This happened on April 30, but we only just heard the news.

At the Tokyo Medical University Hospital in the Shinjuku Ward, a female patient in her 30s was in the middle of undergoing laser surgery to her cervix.

In the middle of the procedure, the woman let out some gas – which suddenly started a fire in the operating room.

The official hospital report wrote, “When the patient’s intestinal gas leaked into the space of the operation (room), it ignited with the irradiation of the laser, and the burning spread, eventually reaching the surgical drape and causing the fire.”

The fire tragically burned a large portion of the woman’s body including her legs and waist. No other statements have been made about her current condition.

Outside experts went to the hospital and the same operating room to investigate, but they determined that there weren’t any flammable materials in the operating room during the time of the woman’s procedure.

There have been no other updates to the situation, but we hope that the woman is recovering well and pray that this doesn’t happen to anyone else undergoing a laser procedure.
