Alexandria Vera, a 24-year-old teacher from Texas, has just been charged with “aggravated sexual assault” after investigators found out she became pregnant after having sex with one of her students.
One of the police spokesmen confirmed that Vera had sex with her 13-year-old student almost daily for nine straight months.
Vera got an abortion immediately after being questioned by Child Protective Services about the nature of her relationship with this particular student, but did confirm that she had been pregnant.
Initially, police charged Vera with “continuous sex abuse of a child,” a crime that could have put her in jail for life. However, Vera did plead guilty in hopes of shortening her prison sentence to just 30 years.
At present, Vera has since resigned her position at Stovall Middle School, where she first met the student in summer school. They’d begun getting intimate with each other last September, and Vera even went as far as claiming that the two “love[d] each other.”
Her final sentencing will come during her court case in January.
