She Loses 100 Pounds After Eating School Cafeteria Food For A Year

When Tammy McRae got a job as a nutrition manager at Carver Elementary school, she suddenly realized that it felt incredibly hypocritical of her to take the role. She decided that she needed to lose weight and did so – just by eating her school cafeteria’s food.

Tammy McRae first began to work at Carver Elementary school in Baytown, Texas as a dishwasher. Her enthusiasm quickly earned her a promotion to Nutrition Manager.

That was when she realized, “I was 260 pounds and I got a job as a Nutrition Manager, but then I realized I wasn’t very nutritious so I decided to make a change.

“That’s what made me want to lose the weight – for my kids that I had to inspire to eat better.”

McRae had gained significant weight when she had been pregnant with her two kids, and for 17 years, she’d never managed to lose any of it.

Her new job suddenly made her reconsider her options.

It didn’t take long for McRae to realize there was no better way to prove herself as a proper Nutrition Manager at an elementary school than by eating all the same foods she served to the students each day.

Beginning in September 2015, when Carver Elementary School resumed, McRae began to eat the breakfasts and lunches on the cafeteria menu that day.

She didn’t make any other lifestyle choice. “I just stuck to the menu at our school,” she explained. When she returned home at night, she made sure to not eat dinner, but just snack on some fruits or a small yogurt, if she was feeling hungry.

By Christmastime,

Now, a year later, McRae is proud to say that she’s 100 pounds lighter than she was a year ago.

She feels so much better about herself – not just because of her changed physical appearance, she clarifies – but because she feels “healthier” than she did before.

“I am now part of my own life,” she added. “I go fishing. I mow my own lawn.”

McRae encourages anyone else trying to lose weight to just “go for it. Be a part of your own life.”
