New mom, Raye Lee, was thrilled to finally become a mother. After her son, Roxas, was born on August 15, she began to document and share all of her experiences on her Facebook.
Her first post about her son’s birth, however, was greeted by something more than just her friends’ support.
After reading how Lee described Roxas’ birth as a “surprise C-section,” one man commented to say that “it must have been nice” for Lee to have taken the “easy way out” by not having a natural, vaginal birth.
Lee was not about to stand for this criticism and responded with a long, angry Facebook post that has since been shared almost 30k times.
In this post, Lee went into great detail about how she had initially gone into labor, being reassured that everything was progressing well, to suddenly being told that she would have to be prepped for a C-section.
Lee’s labor had stretched out to 38 hours at that point, and her son was beginning to get distressed. Each of her subsequent contractions was “literally STOPPING his HEART.”
“[My C-section] had nothing to do with the fact that I physically couldn’t because I was given no other choice to save the life of my child,” Lee wrote.
She doesn’t stop there. Lee continues by describing the C-section procedure in great detail, writing about how doctors only make a 5-inch incision to remove an entire infant from the mother’s abdomen and even have to “rip through all of your layers of fat, muscle, and organs.”
Lee’s anger and defiance in clear throughout her entire post, but she concludes it by affirming herself and how much she would do for her son, “just to make sure [she is] able to see his smiling face.”
