People Are PAYING To Have Their Eyelids Swollen. The Reason Why? WHOA.

A new video has made its way across the internet, showing footage of a woman getting her eyelids swollen by a doctor. It’s not as horrifying as it sounds.

This is probably already on its way to becoming the next big beauty trend.

People are now paying doctors to make their eyelids swell – to the point where it looks like a bad allergic reaction.

The procedure isn’t actually a new development. Carboxytherapy, the practice of injecting carbon dioxide into the body, has already been in practice to reduce the appearance of stretch marks and cellulite.

Now, the technology is being introduced to the eyes, as a way to target eye bags and dark under-eye circles.

Dermatologist Joshua Zeichner, who practices carboxytherapy, explains the science of the procedure: "Carbon dioxide causes inflammation, blood vessel dilation, and increased blood flow to the skin. Oxygen levels also increase because red blood cells release oxygen in response to the carbon dioxide."

Because dark eye circles are most often caused by poor circulation in the area, injecting carbon dioxide to the region, swelling the eyelid, effectively targets the culprit of the problem.
Considering the procedure for yourself?

It takes more than just one injection of carbon dioxide to make a marked improvement. Most people will need anywhere from two to ten treatments before seeing distinct change, and each treatment can cost anywhere between $75 to $200.

Still uncertain? Even Dr. Zeichner admits there are more effective ways to improve dark under-eye circles – like “lasers, fillers, and skin lightening topicals.”
Perhaps it’s best to sit this trend out.
