More than 100 popular products sold at big name stores around the country are being recalled due to listeria concerns.

According to Food Safety News, protein bars, trail mix bars, and a variety of trail mix sold at Walmart, Publix, Great Value, Roundy, Meijer, Hyvee, and many other retailers have been affected by the immediate recall.

The stores were forced to issue a recall on these snacks after it was discovered that a sunflower seed ingredient used in the products may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, which causes the potentially deadly infection listeria.

According to the FDA, a few of the popular brands affected in this recall include Kroger, Market District and Dakota’s Best Biggy’s, and Planters.

So far, TreeHouse Foods, Kroger, and SunOpta have all sent out recall statements that indicate the codes and dates of the items affected by the recall.

The potentially contaminated sunflower seed ingredient wasn’t just used in snack products, either.

Trader Joe’s announced on Thursday that it will be recalling nearly 34 pounds of its packaged Broccoli Slaw & Kale Salad with White Chicken Meat, Sunflower Seeds, Cranberries, And A Sweet & Spicy Vinaigrette, over the recent listeria concerns.

As the FDA has already noted, while listeria typically causes nothing more than mild symptoms in healthy individuals, it can prove to be deadly for anybody with a weakened immune system, especially infants and the elderly.
