Women in China have started going to great lengths to prove that they’re “skinny enough” in two new bizarre and unhealthy social media challenges.

Just a few days ago, Cosmopolitan.com reported that women all over China have been holding up their iPhone 6 devices across their knees to prove that they have skinny legs.

"It has become a new generation of standard legs," reads one post on the Chinese social media site Weibo.

The iPhone 6 challenge is just one of many that have been going viral on social media, especially in China.

Not only does this “skinny” challenge promote unhealthy diet and exercise habits, it also doesn’t mean anything.

"The knees are bone and cartilage, and those are fixed size, so there's not much to do to change the knee's size," Benjamin Bedford, MD, told Teen Vogue. "Just above the knee cap is the quadriceps muscle, so to get your knees small enough, you'd actually need reduced muscle mass. When you diet excessively, you'd be losing a lot of muscle mass, and not changing the size of the bone. “

Now, just days after the disturbing trend went viral, Mashable reports that young women in China are starting to wrap 100 yuan bills around their wrists to prove, once again, that they’re thin.

Apparently, the goal of this new challenge is to see no gaps around the wrist once it’s wrapped.

To make matters even worse, many women have started using smaller bills for the challenge just to prove that they’re skinnier than skinny.

Along with the hashtag #WristChallenge, plenty of women around the country have been sharing their own wrist selfies.

The disturbing trend seems to be making other ladies “jealous” of their peers with smaller wrists.
