For those of us who can’t get through the morning without a little pick-me-up, coffee is everything. But have you ever used coffee for anything else?
Even if you drink several cups of coffee a day, you’ve probably never heard that it actually has tons of incredible (non-drinking) uses.
Using Coffee Grounds Around Your Home
- If you have houseplants, try mixing coffee grounds into the soil to give them a major nitrogen boost.
- Scoop flavored coffee grounds into a dish for an easy-breezy air freshener.
- Fill a pie pan with fresh coffee grounds and place it in the fridge to absorb foul odors.
- Sprinkle coffee grounds underneath outdoor plants to repel slugs.
- Mix olive oil with a scoop of unused coffee grounds to hide scratches in any wood furniture.
Using Coffee Grounds For Health & Beauty
- Combine fresh coffee grounds, dried sage leaves, and coconut oil to make a DIY anti-cellulite scrub.
- Naturally darken your hair with coffee grounds. Check out these tips from DIY Natural!
- If you have finely ground coffee, mix it with arrowroot powder to create your own dry shampoo. Use a clean foundation brush to lightly brush the powder mixture into your scalp. After letting it sit on your scalp for a few minutes, comb it through your hair with a brush.
- After chopping garlic or onions, it’s virtually impossible to get rid of the pungent odor with soap and water alone. Scrub your hands with liquid castile soap and coffee grounds to banish the smell entirely.
- Add coffee grounds to any salt or sugar scrub to create a luxurious exfoliating scrub right at home. As long as you have carrier oil (olive, sesame, grapeseed, safflower, etc.) and an essential oil (lavender, eucalyptus, tea tree, peppermint), you can make your own DIY scrub. Along with coffee grounds, combine your mixture with either white sugar, brown sugar, or Epsom salt.
