The E. coli just keeps spreading. Now, it’s spread to more than twelve states.
Last week, chicken salad sold at Costco in California was pulled off of the shelves, after a notification from the supplier that the meat could be tainted.
The supplier in question is Taylor Farms, which supplied all of these stores with celery that could be tainted with E. Coli.
But now, there are even worse fears.
Federal health officials are including 155,000 items in the E. coli recall, in states as far as Georgia and Hawaii. Taylor Farms supplied the celery for many prepackaged meals for franchises across the nation.
The recall includes stores like Target, 7-Eleven, Albertsons, Safeway, Walmart, and Sam’s Club. The products include Starbucks sandwiches, wraps, salads, and anything containing Taylor Farms celery.
Starbucks in particular took a big hit, when they were forced to recall 45,000 turkey holiday sandwiches from stores in California, Oregon and Nevada.
So far, Six people have gotten sick in Montana, five people fell ill in Utah, four in Colorado, and one each in California, Missouri, Virginia, and Washington.
Health officials told those who purchased chicken salad at Costco to throw it out immediately. They’ve also released a list of all of the products recalled across the nation, so those who purchased them can be aware if they need to trash their contaminated food.
This follows recalls in October that hit Chipotle stores across the West Coast.
Whatever is going on, there’s clearly an E. coli problem sweeping the farming industry.
Here is the link to the list of recalls. Be sure that if you own any of these products, either throw them out or return them for a refund.
