Back in 2004, Morgan Spurlock made history with his expose on McDonald’s. He ate the processed food for every meal for 30 days.
The results changed the way we looked at fast food. Spurlock was miserable for the full 30 days, and came out of it heavy, sluggish, and full of regret.
So Conor Swanberg, a writer for Independent Journal, decided to do a similar experiment.
He loves Chick-fil-A. So he decided that he’d eat Chick-fil-A, for a slightly smaller one meal per day, for thirty days.
He took a picture of himself before the experiment, so he’d see how much he changed.
He took vines for every day. He said that he rarely suffered boredom while eating his meals.
“Chick-fil-A’s wide variety of sauces helped make each meal unique, but I usually jumped between their ranch and Polynesian sauces,” he said.
After the first week, he reports that he didn’t really feel any worse for wear. He hadn’t gained any additional weight.
By day 23, he ran up against a slight problem. It was Thanksgiving, and while the rest of his family got to eat a delicious Thanksgiving dinner, Coor was stuck eating his chicken sandwich and fries.
Another small problem he had was the fact that Chick-fil-A, a Christian company, is closed on Sundays. To solve this problem, Conor just bought extra food on Saturday, put it in the oven, and heated it up on Sunday.
His last day, he hit another hitch in his plan.
He had previously planned a trip to Puerto Rico, and it fell on his last day.
So he packed his bag full of chicken that morning, and ate it on the beach in Puerto Rico.
The results?
Here’s what he ate, according to his post:
- 72 chicken nuggets
- 22 orders of fries
- 16 chicken tenders
- 12 spicy chicken sandwiches
- 12 lemonades
- 9 unsweetened teas
- 8 sweet teas
- 4 regular chicken sandwiches
- 3 tortilla soups
- 2 chicken biscuits
- 1 Chicken, egg, and cheese bagel
- 1 salad
- 1 Oreo shake
Calories: 22350
And at the end of it, he had only gained two pounds.
