We’ve all had days when we have a workout planned and we just..don’t want to go.
No matter what the reason, we just don’t want to. Maybe we want to go hang out with friends, or just think we deserve a night to sit in front of the TV and catch up on Scandal.
Whatever the reason, you don’t want to go. But that’s okay, right?
More likely or not, you’ll feel better if you go. Think of exercise as a way to treat yourself, not a punishment. Here are a few common excuses, and the reason you should still go:
- You just don’t have time. Sure you don’t. Exercise doesn’t have to take two hours. It’s beneficial to set aside half an hour or so for exercise, since it’s also time for yourself and for self-reflection.
- You forgot your headphones/your phone is dead. Sure, it’s great to have music to accompany you on your workout, but you don’t need it as much as you think you do. Try to work out mindfully, clearing your head and focusing on your muscles.
- You have a cold. Sure, you feel gross, but that workout may actually help you. Working up a sweat can flush your body of the bug with increased expelling of your sweat and urine. Just make sure to rehydrate afterward!
- You missed your class. Maybe you’ve gotten into a groove with your spin class, but you missed it. Try another class, like Zumba, or try using some of the gym’s equipment. Who knows? You may find a new love.
