The ideas of being healthy and drinking may not exactly jive well in your mind. However, you can still drink if you are living a healthy lifestyle. In addition, making healthy choices about drinking can also help you to prevent or avoid a hangover, which is a nice bonus.
Before you head to the bar for a night of drinking, make sure that you eat. Fill up with protein or vegetables that will make you feel full. A full stomach will help delay the effect of alcohol.
Once you are at the bar, make sure you are paying attention to serving sizes. Not every drink is one serving, so you may end up consuming way more calories than you planned. Plan out what you will drink before you go, so you can avoid overloading on calories. Also, make sure you have a non-alcoholic beverage in between each alcoholic beverage you drink. Not only will this lower your calorie consumption but it will also help prevent a hangover the next day.
Basically, a hangover is from being dehydrated. So, if you wake up the next day with horrible hangover symptoms, your main goal should be to re-hydrate. You need to replace the electrolytes you lost while drinking. A good way to do this is to drink sports drinks or even some chicken broth.
So, as you can see, by taking a few mindful steps, you can ensure that your night out at the bar won’t result in you consuming too many extra calories or an awful hangover the next day. Also, now you know that you can still have a good time and include alcohol in your healthy lifestyle.
