Are you always on the lookout for foods that will keep your eyes in tip-top condition? Get an eyeful of these foods, which are packed with nutrients that will keep you looking sharp!
Kale and Spinach: To add to the other thousand benefits of these dark leafy greens, both kale and spinach contain lutein and zeaxanthin, which absorb high energy light waves. Not only that, but kale’s antioxidants protect against environmental eye damage, and spinach contains vitamin E, which keeps tissues in the eyes strong.
Oranges: These juicy citrus fruits contain high levels of lutein and zeaxanthin as well. They also contain high levels of vitamin C, which promotes healthy blood vessels in the eyes.
Yogurt: This creamy breakfast food contains zinc, which is essential in helping vitamin A produce melanin, a protective pigment for your eyes.
Nuts: Like spinach, nuts are great sources of vitamin E, which promotes strong tissues and protects eyes from free radicals. Hazelnuts and nut butters are great for this as well.
Fish: As we know, fish contain fatty acids, which have a lot of health benefits. Fatty acids are great for your eyes too, as they help with retinal function and visual development.
Carrots: This is one you’ve almost definitely heard of. Carrots contain beta-carotene, which is great for night vision.
These are all foods that are nutritious, pretty cheap, and easy to work into your diet. So take care of your eyes! They’ll thank you when they see the results.
