6 Simple Ways To Cut Calories At Home

Just because you’re trying to get healthier doesn’t mean that you have to cut out everything that tastes good. There are a lot of ways that you can cut back on the bad stuff and make other things healthier that don’t have to take that much effort. Here are just a few that we like:

  1. Eat from a smaller plate. You know those tiny plates that come with your dinner set, that are supposed to be for bread or salad? Serve your dinner on them. Your plate will look much fuller, and you’ll end up eating a healthy portion.
  2. Use spices, not sauces. You can get a lot of flavoring for your protein with a spice rub, so there’s no need for dousing it in heavy sauces. Spices have almost no calories, and they’re usually packed with even more flavor than a sauce.
  3. Ditch the bread. Cutting out bread and butter as an appetizer takes out a bunch of empty carbs that you’re not really benefiting from.
  4. Ditch the potato chips, too. If you want to snack before dinner, opt for snack sized veggies instead. They’ll give you the satisfying crunch of chips, but they’re less calories, more filling, and full of nutrients. Win-win-win.
  5. Never fry your food. Baking, roasting, or steaming will do just fine. ##MN_RESP##
  6. Pack half for leftovers right away. This is a trick you can use at restaurants, too. If you pack up half of the portion before you even eat, you’re already in control of your portion size.

There you have it! You don’t even have to change that much! Even these small changes will make a big change in your diet.
