Honey is a delicious all-natural sweetener that goes great inside baked goods, healthy Greek yogurt, or even your morning coffee.
But packed with tons of antibacterial and antiseptic properties, raw honey actually offers a slew of other health and beauty benefits that you may not already know about.
The secret is to only use raw honey that hasn’t been pasteurized, processed, or heated in a way that would change its unique qualities.
According to the beauty team over at Health.com, here are 5 different health and beauty problems that can be solved with raw honey:
- Acne: Honey can draw out the breakout-causing bacteria behind your painful pimples. Just dab a tiny bit of raw honey on the blemishes, let sit for 15-20 minutes, and rinse your face with warm water:
- Dark Circles: A mixture of honey and almond oil can quickly help decrease the appearance of dark circles and puffiness under the eyes. Just apply the homemade eye cream right before bed and rinse it off in the morning.
- Razor Burn: When your skin becomes rough, bumpy, and itchy after shaving, smear some soothing honey on the irritated area to relieve the pain and reduce redness. Rinse the mixture off with warm water after about 15-20 minutes.
- Itchy Scalp: Thanks to its natural anti-fungal properties, raw honey helps get rid of all the oils clogging your hair follicles and producing those itchy flakes. When your scalp gets flaky and itchy, Health.com recommends diluting one tablespoon of honey with warm water and massaging it into your scalp for two minutes. Leave the mixture on for about two hours and rinse with warm water. ##MN_RESP##
- Brittle Hair: Don’t waste your hard-earned money on expensive moisturizing hair creams. Instead, just mix a teaspoon of raw honey with your normal shampoo to soften your lackluster locks fast!
