No matter what type of person you are, mornings can be rough for anybody. For some people, simply getting out of bed and starting the day feels like nothing more than a dreaded chore.
If you can easily jump out of bed and head out for a morning run at 5 a.m., then that’s truly fantastic.
But for many people out there, the day doesn’t even feel like it’s started until they’ve inhaled their third cup of coffee.
Like most people, you want to make the most out of every single day. Here are a few simple steps to ensure every day is a productive day, suggested by The Huffington Post:
- Create A Morning Ritual: Committing to something at the same time every day helps your brain realize that it’s time to get up and start the day. It can really be something as simple as turning on the same radio station right when you get up or something as intense as going on a morning run. It just has to be an activity that puts you in a positive mindset every morning.
- Stop Hunching Over: If you’re already sitting at a desk all day, slouching and hunching over your computer is only adding to that discomfort. When you slouch for an extended period of time, your diaphragm pushes against your lungs, making it harder to breath. You may not even realize it, but sitting up straight and opening your airways can help you feel more energized and able to concentrate.
- Plan Around Your Energy: When do you feel the most energetic during the day? If you feel great after your first cup of coffee, then try to do as much work as you possibly can when you have that energy. Just don’t force yourself to work hard when you’re clearly not ready for it. You’ll be the most productive when you have energy for it.
- Give Yourself Incentives At Work: Instead of going onto Facebook when you’re right in the middle of something, turn it into an incentive. Each time you complete a task at work, tell yourself you get to send a text or eat a snack that you’ve been looking forward to. This way, your distractions can actually work in your favor.
- Always Drink Water: You should stay hydrated all day long, starting from the moment you wake up in the morning. Force yourself to drink one full glass of water before you so much as reach for your first cup of coffee. Dehydration will make you tired, foggy, and sluggish—and you might not even realize it!
