6 Incredible Ways You Can Use All-Natural Epsom Salt

Any beauty expert will tell you that the one item you should always keep in your bathroom is a jar of Epsom salt. Here are just a few incredible ways you can use Epsom salt!

If you’ve ever treated yourself to a spa day, chances are that you’ve noticed one common ingredient in just about all of those luxurious beauty treatments: Epsom salt.

Made up of healthy minerals, like magnesium and sulfate, Epsom salt is an all-natural exfoliant and anti-inflammation remedy that can easily be used to treat dry skin, wounds, sore muscles, and even some illnesses.

Many beauty experts love using Epsom salt in warm baths and foot soaks to create a low-cost spa experience at home.

Here are just a few amazing ways you can use Epsom salt at home:

  1. Hair Volumizer: Adding Epsom salt to regular conditioner can help get rid of any excess oils that may be causing your hair to seem flat and weighed down. Make your own hair volumizing treatment at home by combining equal parts conditioner and Epsom salt. Leave the treatment on your hair for at least 20 minutes before rinsing.
  2. Sunburn Relief: Because Epsom salt has such powerful anti-inflammatory properties, it makes the perfect treatment to relieve sunburn pain. Try adding about two tablespoons of Epsom salt to a spray bottle filled with water. Just spray the solution directly onto the sunburn, and you’ll start to feel the pain melt away!
  3. Dry Lips: Sometimes, applying too much lip balm onto dry lips can actually cause your lips to dry out even further. The best way to smooth dry, chapped lips is to exfoliate them with a delicate scrub. Instead of paying the big bucks for an expensive lip exfoliant, just combine a few tablespoons of Epsom salt with some petroleum jelly to create your own scrub. Apply the easy solution to your dry lips and rub in gently. Removing the dead skin will make your lips look fuller and plumper in no time!
  4. Pedicure: You can have your own low-cost spa day at home by creating an exfoliating bath for your feet. Mix ½ cup of Epsom salt with warm soap water and soak your feet for about five minutes. The natural exfoliating properties of the Epsom salt will help soften dry callused feet, leaving you feeling like you just came home from the nail salon!
  5. Facial: You can add Epsom salt to any face cleanser to create your own exfoliating facial scrub. Just add ½ teaspoon of Epsom salt to your favorite cleanser, massage the solution into your face, and rinse with cold water to close your freshly cleaned pores.
  6. Sleep Aid: Because of its soothing ability to relax sore muscles, mixing Epsom salt in your nighttime bath can help you sleep better and get a good night’s rest.
